In war, snipers have very important roles to take down specific targets. They are watching out for commanders, officers or to destroy supply lines. In the Nigerian civil war, one of the greatest casualties in the war inflicted upon the Nigerian Army by the secessionist State, was as a result of the work of a sniper. There was a long supply line convoy including petrol tankers. He shot at the leading fuel tanker and that sent ripple effects causing grave damage and casualties.
“It Takes A Thief” was a 1968 Tv series derived from the idiom “It takes a thief to catch a thief”. It takes a Sniper to kill a Sniper. As a result of this the Army trains what is called Sniper hunters or Sniper watchers, who scan their territory and try root out possible Sniper hide outs and take out Snipers.
Today there is no doubt in my mind that the devil has his Snipers too. So we are faced with not only the call to be Snipers but to also be Sniper hunters. The word of knowledge, word of wisdom and discerning of spirits are indispensable in order to achieve this goal. Let us look at the story of Elisha and the King of Syria.
8 Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.
10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
13 And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
19 And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.
20 And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
21 And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?
22 And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
23 And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel. II Ki 6:8-33 Elisha wass a typical example of a Sniper hunter. Joseph and Daniel in the Old Testament had the interpretation of dreams and understood dark sentences there were lots of Seers in that era. Today we have the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. We need to develop the gifts of the Holy Spirit as we get into spiritual warfare. This is the era of the Holy Spirit let us awaken to His operation and administration in our age.
The Sniper needs reasonable time to get acclimatized to the terrain and know if there are changes. He needs time to dig in and be very effective in his work. My opinion is that before any major combat like the Iraq war or the attack on Faluja Snipers ought to be in place. Movement of big units will cause the enemy to disperse or dig in. I am not here to discuss the rightness or wrongness of the war but to look at natural perspectives and relate them to the spiritual that we might war a good warfare.
Absalom overthrew his father David as king and made himself king in Hebron.
And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom. 2 Sam 15:12
Now Ahithophel a wise man an anointed Sniper with great counsel joined ranks with the rebellious. His counsels were like the voice of God. When David had knowledge of this he knew that spelt big trouble for him. He had to pray a Sniper’s prayer
“ O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”
And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:
Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:
But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father’s servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel. 2 Sam 15:32-34
This was a word of wisdom from David. It takes a thief to catch a thief, so it takes a Sniper to hunt a Sniper.
And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father’s presence, so will I be in thy presence.
Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.
And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father’s concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.
So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.
And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom. 2 Sam 16:16-23
Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:
And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:
And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.
And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.
And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.
And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.
For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.
And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.
Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.
Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.
And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom. 2 Sam 17:1-10
And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father. 2 Sam 17:23
Thus was Ahithophel snipped and Absalom and his armies were defeated and the young coup plotter was killed.
Are you a Sniper hunter? Why not enroll today in the School of the Holy Ghost and Prayer. Robin Hood, William Tell were great archers from movies of yesteryears and could pluck an apple from someone’s head. We need great snipers today that can pray or just speak the word only and it shall be so.
David came back to Ziglag and found it had been burnt down and the two wives were taken also the wives and children of his company. He called Abiathar the priest to bring the ephod. The ephod contains twelve stones which is the Urim and Thumim. A flash of light would indicate God’s pleasure. He prayed a specific to the point prayer. Shall I go? Shall I overtake? And the response was go, overtake and restore. For that reason he set out and got result.
Elijah had confrontation with Ahab and spoke words or rather a Sniper’s prayer.
And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. IKing 17:1
And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. (I King 18:1)
Elijah showed himself to Ahab and there was gathered also the 450 priests of Baal and 400 that ministered to Jezabel. Elijah mocked the priests and their god. Their god would not answer and finally Elijah repaired the altar of God which was in ruins arranged his sacrifice asked them to soak it with water and at the time of the evening sacrifice called fire from heaven. He then got hold of the priests of Baal and killed everyone of them. It was now time to call forth the rain.
43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.
45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.
46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. IKing 18:43-46
In the book of James we are told Elijah was a man of like passion as we are, that implies he ate and went to bathroom like us and yet he prayed, the heavens were shut and there was no rain for 31/2 years and he prayed again and it rained. He knows how to pray a result oriented prayer the Sniper’s prayer.
I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that God is recruiting Snipers, men that would call down fire, men whose words shall not fall to the ground. See my book “There Shall Be A Performance”. The creative anointing shall be upon them and they truly shall be called elohim according to the Psalms
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. Ps 82:1
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. Ps 82:6

I Believe In Capstone
Capstone is the headstone or the crowning stone of a structure. The great pyramid at Giza, lacks the Capstone. I believe that, this is an indictment for the world and believers, that there cannot be completeness except Jesus Christ: The Capstone, the Headstone and the Crowning stone of life takes His rightful place at the top.
I believe in Capstone and I believe in the foundation stone. I believe that Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega is the Rock, the Corner stone and the Capstone.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. Mat.7:24
As a Civil Engineer and a Building Contractor I will like to state categorically that: “The depth and quality of your Substructure determines the height of your Superstructure”. Enahoro Francis Ovienmhada
Jesus as your Foundation Stone and Cornerstone is the absolute condition for Him to be your Capstone. – Enahoro Francis Ovienmhada.
In the construction of a structure, we look for a solid base to build on called the rock in Mat.7:24. The next thing is to have a Cornerstone to which every building block must be aligned with.
“Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on (that lines up with) him shall not be confounded“. 1Pe.2:6 (Is.28:16)
God has set up the family structure and I would like to type the wife as the foundation, the husband as the superstructure and Jesus as our Capstone. The structure of marriage today is out of whack because it is not aligned with the corner stone and headed up in the Capstone.
And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Mat.8:20.
Jesus was not here referring to physical accommodation but about his lordship. He is looking for a people through whom His life will flow through. We are told in John Chapter One, that he came to His own and they received Him not but as many as received Him gave He power to become sons of God.
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for [so] I am. 14 If I then, [your] Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them [Jhn 13:13-17 KJV]
The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. Lk 6:40 The “be ye holy,” “be ye perfect” that YHVH wants me to be is the being that I must become. – Rev. Enahoro Francis Ovienmhada
Let us make Jesus Christ the Rock, Corner stone and Capstone, Lord of our lives.
